The Standards

The Open Doors Community Buildings Standards

From 2012 to 2014 the focus of the project's work was around quality assurance in community buidlings. Whilst this work has now come to an end the standards which were developed as part of the project still form a useful checklist for committees of community buildings.

The practice identified in the Open Doors standards aims to ensure that the management committee (and/or trustees) of a community building meet their legal obligations as well as providing an environment and activities that recognizes and meets the expectations of the community, regulators and other potential partners.

A template for a handbook for those who run community buildings was also produced.

The standards were developed as a stepping stone to nationally recognized quality assurance schemes for community buildings.
